Excalibur in particular has a fun, noisy party atmosphere where nobody will notice (or care) if you're learning. Connected by free tram to Mandalay Bay, so you can casino-hop cheaply.

The Linq & Flamingo

Off-Strip locals casinos — The Orleans & South Point

Locals casinos live on repeat business, so they're set up to be welcoming: lower minimums, better video poker odds, friendlier staff, and none of the tourist-gouging. The Orleans and South Point are both a short rideshare from the Strip and excellent places for an unhurried learning session.
